Laser Treatment of Superficial Blood Vessels

Laser Treatment of Superficial Blood Vessels

Medical grade lasers are a safe and effective way to remove superficial blood vessels (“broken capillaries”), remove vascular lesions, improve rosacea and reduce general redness. Our K-Laser Blue Derma breaks down visible blood vessels of the surface of your skin, leaving you with reduced redness and a more even skin tone.

We usually recommend 3 treatments in 6-week intervals, although you may notice visible signs of improvement after the first treatment.

Treatment price varies depending on the treatment required. Contact the clinic on (02) 4943 3232 for a more detailed quote or to book with one of our doctors.

K-Laser Blue Derma

At Charlestown Cosmetic Medicine, we use the K-Laser Blue Derma for all our laser treatments. The state-of-the-art laser technology utilises blue light, which offers several advantages over infra-red laser, including improved accuracy and minimal damage to surrounding areas. The 440nm and 660nm wavelengths of the laser target haemoglobin and effectively destroys superficial blood vessels in the area treated.

K-laser therapy significantly improves blood flow to tissues, accelerating the healing process, for faster recovery and better results.

Procedure

The laser specifically targets the blood vessels and coagulates them. The blood vessels are destroyed beyond repair and your body begins to break down and disperse them through the lymphatic system over the next two weeks. The blood is then rerouted through to healthier blood vessels.

Possible side effects

It is common to experience minor redness, tenderness and/or swelling which resolves over a day or two. Minor crusting can also occur, which resolves over about a week.

Aftercare

You will need to avoid scratching or rubbing the skin and using any scrubs, exfoliants, or ‘active’ skin care (e.g. retinol) for the week following treatment.

It is best to avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks after your procedure. Sun protection is essential to protect your skin from UV damage and maintain results. We recommend daily SPF 30/50+, and if in direct sunlight to reapply every 2 hours and wear a hat.
