Mono Threads
Mint mono threads are a great way to boost collagen, improve fine lines, tighten skin, and reduce crepiness. These threads are composed of PDO (polydioxanone) sutures, which have 30-year long safety track record for use in surgery. It is a safe raw material that is completely absorbed by the body. This minimally invasive procedure utilises your skin’s own collagen-stimulating potential with minimal trauma or tissue reaction. Mint is Australian TGA approved and backed by clinical studies in safety and efficacy. Prices start from $450 depending on area treated, and effects are long-lasting.
What to expect?
Downtime: Occasional bruising, mild swelling
Pain: Mild
Treatment time: 30-45 mins
Onset: Noticeable effect by 4 weeks with full effect by 3 months
Duration: Effects 12+ months
How do Mint mono threads work?
Insertion of multiple PDO threads creates a support network for the skin. The embedded threads are gradually resorbed over a period of 3 to 4 months via biological absorption or hydrolysis. This breakdown process stimulates collagen around the threads and continues to do so over the period the thread is degraded. A second treatment is generally recommended at 3 months, and effects can be expected to last over 12 months.
Procedure
Your practitioner will apply a topical anaesthetic cream prior to procedure, and sometimes will place nerve blocks for more comfort in sensitive areas. Threads are then inserted into the skin, using a tiny needle introducer, throughout the area of concern. Pain is generally minimal, and you can resume most activities following treatment.
